A Prophetic Word
Return to the Watchtower
Given to Prophet Tracy A. Cooke · July 24, 2026
While I was praying, I saw a watchman standing on a high tower. Below him, the earth was filled with movement.
Nations were speaking.
Armies were moving.
Markets were reacting.
Crowds were shouting.
Screens were flashing.
One report contradicted another report, and every voice demanded an immediate response.
Then I noticed something unusual. The watchman was not looking through a telescope. He was holding a trumpet to his ear. The instrument designed to release a signal had become the place where he was trying to receive one.
Then the Spirit of the Lord said:
"My people have become so surrounded by signals that they can no longer distinguish between an alarm and an instruction."
Hear this carefully.
This word is not a prediction about the outcome of a war, an election, a market, or the decisions of any government. It is a call to spiritual discernment in an age when every event is presented as urgent, every opinion is presented as revelation, and every reaction is presented as courage.
The Lord says:
"Return to the watchtower."
Habakkuk said:
"I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what He will say unto me."
The prophet did not say, "I will watch to see what everyone else is saying." He did not build his position around rumor. He did not allow the anxiety of the city to become the voice of God. He separated himself from the noise long enough to receive clarity.
I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying:
"You have been listening horizontally when I have called you to listen vertically."
You know what the commentators believe.
You know what the algorithms are promoting.
You know what your political side is repeating.
You know what your friends are fearing.
You know what strangers are arguing about.
But do you know what God has actually instructed you to do?
Information is not the same as revelation.
Intensity is not the same as authority.
Popularity is not the same as truth.
And urgency is not always the evidence of divine timing.
There are voices attempting to make you move before you have heard. There are pressures attempting to make you speak before you have understood. There are people demanding that you choose a position before you have examined the fruit, the facts, and the spirit behind the message.
But the Lord says:
"Do not let another person's alarm become your assignment."
Not every battle belongs to you.
Not every controversy requires your voice.
Not every headline deserves your emotional strength.
Not every open microphone is a divine invitation.
Some of you have become exhausted because you are standing guard over territories God never assigned you to watch. You are fighting arguments that will produce no fruit. You are carrying fears that originated in someone else's imagination. You are responding to every trumpet without first asking who is blowing it and where it is attempting to lead you.
First Corinthians asks:
"If the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?"
An unclear signal produces confused movement. When the sound is uncertain, people run in different directions.
Some retreat when they should advance.
Some advance when they should remain still.
Some attack people who were never their enemy.
Some abandon their position because they mistook commotion for defeat.
The Spirit of the Lord says:
"I am restoring a certain sound to My people."
The certain sound will not always be the loudest sound.
It will not need manipulation.
It will not require panic to produce obedience.
It will carry clarity.
It will carry conviction.
It will carry the character of God.
It will agree with truth.
It will survive examination.
It will not collapse when emotion leaves the room.
There is a difference between a prophetic warning and manufactured fear.
A true warning draws you toward prayer, wisdom, repentance, preparation, and responsible action.
Manufactured fear leaves you addicted to the next frightening report.
A true warning produces sobriety.
Manufactured fear produces obsession.
A true warning clarifies your assignment.
Manufactured fear makes everything feel like your assignment.
The Lord says:
"Test the signal before you move."
Examine the source.
Examine the fruit.
Examine the timing.
Examine whether the message produces wisdom or merely agitation.
Examine whether it agrees with the nature of God or merely confirms your existing anger.
Examine whether you are hearing revelation or repeating the preferences of your tribe.
God is not intimidated by examination. Truth does not fear honest questions. A word that must be protected from accountability is not strengthened by being called prophetic.
Then the Lord directed me back to Habakkuk. After the prophet entered the watchtower, God told him:
"Write the vision, and make it plain."
The watchtower was not a hiding place. It was a place of clarification. Habakkuk withdrew from the noise so he could return with something understandable. The purpose of hearing was not personal fascination. The purpose of hearing was faithful communication.
I hear the Lord saying:
"Make the vision plain again."
Some ministries have complicated what God originally made clear. Some leaders have buried their assignment beneath trends, reactions, controversies, and the pressure to remain visible. Some families have lost their direction because every crisis has been permitted to rewrite their priorities. Some individuals are consuming so much information that they no longer remember the last clear instruction God gave them.
Return to the written vision.
Return to the foundational assignment.
Return to what you knew before confusion entered the room.
What are you building?
Whom are you called to serve?
What must you stop carrying?
What deserves your strength in this season?
What has God told you to finish?
Clarity will require subtraction.
You may need to silence some notifications.
You may need to leave some arguments unanswered.
You may need to stop treating constant access to information as evidence of wisdom.
You may need to withdraw from voices that profit from keeping you angry, frightened, and dependent.
You may need to create enough silence to discover that God has not been absent.
He has been speaking beneath the volume.
The Spirit of the Lord says:
"I am separating the watchmen from the echo chambers."
An echo chamber repeats what has already been said.
A watchman reports what he has actually observed.
An echo chamber rewards agreement.
A watchman accepts responsibility.
An echo chamber grows louder.
A watchman grows clearer.
God is raising people who will not manufacture revelation to satisfy an audience. They will not force current events into every scripture. They will not assign divine meaning to every coincidence. They will not call speculation certainty. They will possess the humility to say, "This is what is confirmed, this is what I discern, and this is what remains unknown."
That humility will not weaken their authority. It will distinguish genuine authority from performance.
I heard the Lord say:
"The next generation is listening for a sound that is clean."
They have heard religious language without integrity. They have watched confidence used to disguise error. They have seen personalities defended more fiercely than truth.
But God is raising voices that do not need exaggeration to carry weight. Their words will be clean because their motives have been examined. Their sound will be clear because they have spent time in the watchtower. Their authority will not come from volume. It will come from alignment.
This is the hour to guard your hearing.
Do not allow outrage to become your daily bread.
Do not allow speculation to become your theology.
Do not allow political loyalty to replace spiritual discernment.
Do not allow a global crisis to cause you to abandon your local assignment.
Pray for nations.
Pray for leaders.
Pray for those trapped in war.
Pray for families facing uncertainty.
Pray for truth to overcome propaganda.
But after you have prayed, return to your post.
Raise your children.
Strengthen your marriage.
Build the ministry.
Complete the work.
Serve the vulnerable.
Manage your resources.
Tell the truth.
Keep your spirit clean.
The watchman does not prove his faithfulness by panicking with the city. He proves his faithfulness by remaining at his post until the signal is clear.
I hear the Lord saying:
"There is a sound emerging beneath the noise."
It is calling the distracted back to focus.
It is calling the hidden back to purpose.
It is calling the compromised back to integrity.
It is calling the exhausted out of unnecessary battles.
It is calling the Church away from reaction and back to discernment.
The nations may shake.
Crowds may celebrate.
Governments may threaten.
Markets may rise and fall.
Voices may compete for control of the moment.
But you do not have to surrender your hearing.
Return to the watchtower.
Wait until the sound is certain.
Write the vision plainly.
Then move with precision.
Declare it:
I will not confuse information with revelation.
I will not inherit another person's panic.
I will test every signal before I move.
I will guard my hearing and examine the fruit.
I will return to the assignment God gave me.
I will speak clearly, honestly, and responsibly.
I will not abandon my post because the world is loud.
I will recognize the certain sound.
